2020 was WILD, (to say the least)

When faced with collective isolation, we chose creative togetherness. The Unscripted community grew wider, and deeper, and used improv to connect, heal, and empower in ways we had never imagined. The Friends of Unscripted were a huge part of keeping our mission alive and impactful, even with an extreme pivot to exclusively online programming. We were some of the first improvisers to play online, and now the Unscripted community reaches worldwide.

We launched our new online programs: Zoomprov Breaks, Operation Improv IRL, and the Improv for Everyone program, which offers free intro improv classes to those who are traditionally underrepresented in improv. We continued to offer Improv for Anxiety and Improv for Life, but restructured the classes for online implementation.

In one of our final in-person events of the year, we taught our largest educational professional development workshop yet for over 100 school faculty and staff. Our board and volunteers strengthened the organization behind the scenes. Our Antiracism & Equity Committee examined and reaffirmed our commitment as an actively antiracist organization, and continues to create organizational practices and policies for equity, inclusion, and access in improv.

Thank you for having our back through the past year. When it is safe to do so, we can’t wait to see you in a workshop, class, or improv show soon. In the meantime, please join us for a Zoomprov Break and see what we’ve been up to for yourself.
