how we work
As improvisers, we’re really good at community collaboration.
Over the past nine years, we've partnered with over 50 community organizations for 76% of our programming. Last year alone, we partnered with 28 organizations to reach 2,375 people, and 90% of individuals paid nothing to take our improv classes. We’re not a theater that focuses primarily on preparing you to get on stage, our improv meets you where you are.
We offer improv classes designed specifically for the communities they serve, especially those who have been historically excluded from improv or who are in need of the resilience, healing, connection, and empowerment that engaging in unscripted theater can bring. And we train improv teachers so they can better meet the needs of students in any improv class, not just ours.

Improv in Recovery is our longest running program, with partnerships in recovery centers like Cumberland Heights and The Next Door since 2017.
where the money goes
As Nashville’s only improv nonprofit, we strive to spend money equitably and transparently. Unscripted is a Nashville Living Wage employer, and we pay our teaching artists the same competitive rate no matter the profitability, because we value each participant regardless of the setting.
