About the project 

In spring 2023, Unscripted is partnering with the Jefferson United Merchant Partners (JUMP) to team up with businesses on Jefferson street on an improv + play focused program to serve our community. 

The workshops in this program are intended to facilitate economic development in a neighborhood centered on creative businesses, with special attention paid to address customer service performance using improvisational techniques & mindsets. This focus was determined by our community partners at JUMP, as this is the most commonly expressed hurdle to economic growth that their members have expressed. We also seek to deepen community understanding of the benefits of the art of improv. The program increasing access to improvisational theatre (improv) by providing training to communities underserved in improv.

WHAT WE NEED

Matching Funds

The budget for the whole project, which will complete before June 1 2023, is $6400. We need to match our funder with $3200. If we meet this goal, we will use any additional funds raised to continue to invest in the community with similar improv programs.

The project budget includes funds to pay teaching artists to plan and lead workshops- including visiting expert teaching artists and community advocates/improvisers in training who live and work on or near Jefferson Street, provide administrative support for the program, and provide stipend payments to participants in order to eliminate access barriers and take additional steps toward equity. 

Most of the matching funds raised will fund these participant stipends.
